Kathryn Whittington was elected to serve on the Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners on January 3, 2017 for a four (4) year term of office..
Ms. Whittington is a West Geauga High School graduate and has an Associate’s Degree in
Business Administration Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in General Business
Administration.
Ms. Whittington was previously employed with Ashtabula County Children Services, serving the
children and families of Ashtabula County for 15 years and has over 25 years of experience
working with families and communities. She was formerly the Community Service Coordinator
for Ashtabula County Children Services Board and the Community Outreach Coordinator for
G.O. Community Development Corporation.
Ms. Whittington currently serves on various Health & Human Services Committees as well as
Justice & Public Safety Committees through the County Commissioners Association of Ohio and
the National Associations of Counties. She was recently appointed as the Vice-Chair of the
Education, Children and Families Subcommittee for the Human Services and Education Steering
Committee through NACo. She will be working on NACo’s Presidential initiative “Connecting
the Unconnected: Counties Linking Residents to Services.”
Ms. Whittington has extensive training in the area of addiction. She continues to work with
community leaders, state and federal legislators to address the drug epidemic. She has recently
created Rural America…Tackling the Drug Epidemic which focuses on an open discussion about
the negative impact on our communities and the successes in the fight against the drug epidemic
in Ashtabula County.
Ms. Whittington grew up in Russell Twp., Ohio and now resides in Andover, Ohio.
